How to Change Real Estate Companies in Arizona

Why would you want to change real estate brokers? In case your current broker is screwing you! Not that that happened to me...
  1. Fill out the agreement with the new broker. (READ the entire agreement. Make sure there isn't a length of time that you're committing to! Especially if there's a high monthly fee.)

  2. Go online to the Arizona Department of Real Estate

  3. To log in you will need your Real Estate License Number, e.g. SA123456789. If you don't know it you can look it up in the department's Public Database under Services -> Search Database -> Individuals. Currently the direct link to the search form is here.

  4. Enter your password, or if you haven't logged in before, enter your social and date of birth.

  5. Click on "Add or Change My Employer". PLEASE NOTE: Before proceeding, if you have any listing clients or Buyer Broker clients with your current broker, make sure that you know the broker's policy about whether you can transfer your clients to your new broker. Technically all clients belong to the broker, so the broker has no obligation to release the clients to you.

  6. Click Continue a couple times and then enter your new broker's info. You will need your broker's license number (the company's license number not the designated broker's license number). If you don't know it you can look it up in the department's Public Database under Services -> Search Database -> Companies. Currently the direct link to the Company search form is here.

  7. If you are a Realtor, fill out the transfer form for your Realtor Association. For SEVRAR, the form is currently here.

  8. Fax in the form. For SEVRAR, the fax number is 480-835-1329.
That's it! Enjoy your new company!
